Arts Open 2012

Arts Open is a festival of more than 40 of Castlemaine & Districts finest artists opening their studios & galleries for one special weekend April 26th-29th.

‘Photography is ‘drawing with light’ and although I began my life as an artist, I became obsessed with recording the world around me with a camera, capturing moments when I felt blessed with the way light fell.’  Katherine Seppings

Australian Poetry Slam

In the first round of the Australia Poetry Slam, October 2011, I read my poem ‘A Woman’s Work,’ at the Maurocco Bar, Castlemaine.

Cafe Poets at South Melbourne Commons Food Festival

I am one of ten Cafe Poets who will read a poem inspired by food or coffee or the Cafe Poet experience at The Commons Food Festival, corner of Montague and Bank Streets, South Melbourne, this Sunday March 4 at 11am.

Cafe Poet

As part of Australian Poetry’s Café Poet program, I am poet-in-residence at The Maurocco Bar, Castlemaine. For the next six months I will be at The Maurocco Bar every Friday afternoon, writing, and aim to be workshopping with poets – from Castlemaine, Bendigo and Melbourne – and discussing ideas about sharing creative work with the community. I am keen to organize more opportunities for local poets to be heard at this inspiring venue.

Please drop into The Maurocco Bar, the wine bar and coffee shop at 4 Templeton Street, Castlemaine, any Friday afternoon, to share your poems and ideas about poetry with me.

Amazing. So economical, and yet every sentence descriptive. So much said in such a short time. Helen Snodgrass

Lovely..would like to read more… Linda Tamang

Really compelling reading. I wanted more, and can’t wait for more Gloria Meltzer

Beautifully written and read! Abbie Heathcote

Wonderful writing. As others have suggested Katherine, you convey so much in so short a space and your words carry a weight that is layered and lovely yet filled with a sort of foreboding or a promise. Elisabeth

Preschool Class at Over The Moon Dance Studio

Over The Moon Dance Preschool Class

I’d like to share this YouTube video with you. I have assisted in a preschool dance class at Over The Moon Dance Studio, Castlemaine, for the past decade. I love to dance and I love to encourage dance. Participating in yoga and dance has been one of the healthiest and happiest experiences in my life. It was a privelege to photograph these children. Thank you Edna

This slideshow demonstrates the children in a class with Edna Reinhardt doing yoga together, doing a quiet design activity, being inspired by beautiful music and improvising their own dance. Ties are snakes, boxes are telephones, scarves are birds. Anything goes!
